I love exciting food and the exotic flavours of kitchens across the globe. The experience of trying something for the first time is priceless. I may be crazy, but the meals I usually love most are the things that initially scare me. One of the best and most memorable plates of food I've ever tucked into was an ant-egg salad at a little restaurant on the banks of the Mekong River in Luang Prabang. My wife struggled to sit at the same table as me; questioning my decision to eat a meal that contained ants in all stages of their life cycle. I found the combination to be a stroke of brilliance, with the ants providing an intense citrus burst to the usual Asian salad suspects.
A meal without something to wash it down is like watching a Hollywood blockbuster on mute. The occasional beer will find it's way down my throat but most of the time it's wine that flows happily down my gullet. I don't worry too much about whether or not it reminds me of freshly cut grass or an old leather boot but rather decide if I like it or not and see how it stands up to whatever I'm eating.
My wife and I share an unquenchable desire to explore and experience all that is out there in this wonderful world of ours. We've done quite a bit but it's only the tip of the iceberg and unfortunately the more we explore, the stronger is our urge to get away.
This blog is a blurb about my favourite things. It is my goal to bring positive experiences and opinions to whoever chooses to view them. I'll leave the whining, complaining and nauseating negativity to those who prefer to go down that road.
